Our Classes
2nd Period: ASL (4-12th grade)

Students that have taken the class are welcome to take it again. There will be new information as well as review and games to play. New students are welcome also.
Students will not need to bring any supplies. We will be learning how to have conversations in American Sign Language.
2nd Period: Basic Social Dancing (7-12th grade)
with Leila Fincher

Prepare for prom! In this class students will learn a few line dances, as well as basic steps for three social dances (Waltz, Merengue, and Country Swing).
Students need to be willing to follow instructions and obey rules for appropriate touch.
2nd Period: Competitive Games (5-8th grade)

This will be a competitive type PE/Athletics class to get your heart rate, competitiveness, and energy going! Please have athletic shoes on every class to participate. Some examples of games being planned are: wall ball, kick ball, whiffle ball baseball, noodle hockey, and army/navy football!
2nd Period: Dinosaurs & Fossils (4th-6th grade)

I will be using Campfire curriculum to teach this class. It's written in living book format and is an all encompassing curriculum. It has science, ELA, history and a little bit of math throughout the study of dinosaurs!
2nd Period: Homestyle Cooking (7-12th grade)

We will be cooking some good old fashioned homestyle meals! Think chicken and dumplings; fried chicken; salsa; biscuits; cinnamon rolls... and more! We will learn about hospitality and how food is a great way to serve and bless others. No previous cooking experience is required.
2nd Period: Life in Medieval Times (1st-3rd grade)

We will be exploring life during the Medieval time period including the Feudal system, important rulers, daily life & homes, armor & weapons, knights & ladies, and feasts & meals. Students will enjoy hands on learning through crafts, stories, snacks and games.
2nd Period: Pottery (4-12th grade)
with Michaela Vargas

We will be handling clay, learning different techniques to mold and shape it, types of tools and how to use and care for them, and learn how our projects get fired in a kiln. Clay projects will be taken by the teacher to get fired and brought back to class for painting. Students should bring a smock or old shirt to wear that can get messy.
2nd Period: Rocket Science (1st-3rd grade)

We will learn the science behind how things work by building Compass, Kaleidoscope, Fruit powered Battery and other fun gizmos. All projects are safe and fun to make with items we may have around the house.
